Again, you want to place the cursor at measure sixteen to provide the vocalist a bit of pre-roll but if you click on the timeline at measure 16 you'll not only place the cursor but you'll also deselect the event in which you want to punch. This creates a separate event that lasts for the same two measures that the vocal phrase does.Ĭlick the new event to select it. To do that split the main vocal event at the beginning of measure 18 and the beginning of measure twenty. The method you just used works perfectly well when you're creating punch ins on the fly and perhaps you don't know where exactly you'll need the punch in and out, but in this case we do know the exactly location of our punch in target and we can use a different punch in method that will result in a little bit more organised project.įirst, isolate the phrase that you want to punch into in its own event. This means that you haven't destroyed the original recording. This punch in process adds a new event that lays over the top of the existing event and holds the newly recorded clip.
